Are we really trying to turn WarDogs into a run-and-gun shooter?
Let's look at the latest highly upvoted complaints in this subreddit:
- Apparently building a FOB gives you too much money.
- Transporting troops gives you too much money.
- Mortars make too much money and are too effective.
- People are sitting in FOBs instead of running into the hotzone.
- Infantry apparently needs more money to make people actually fight.
- And then we get suggestions to remove the mortar camera, reduce salvos, increase mortar costs, make recon call the strikes, nerf FOB income, and generally make every playstyle that isn't running around shooting people less rewarding.
We finally have a game where building, logistics, recon, mortars, vehicles and supply lines are all actual parts of the war. And as a result, you guys think: nerf all that shit and make people run into the hotzone.
It's pathetic.
If the enemy has a mortar FOB, destroy it. If they're supplying it, hit the supply line. If they're sitting behind their FOB, attack it. The game literally gives you ways to deal with this shit.
But apparently if someone gets killed by something they didn't counter, the mechanic itself is the problem.
The whole fucking point of WarDogs is that you can contribute to a battle without playing it like another generic run-and-gun shooter.
Don't try to turn every unique mechanic into a glorified incentive to run toward the nearest gunfight.
That would be fucking depressing.
