Dear devs, planned progression wipes stop me from preordering
I was excited to play a new KOTH game with better graphics and smoother movement but today I learned about seasonal wipes. I never got to higher levels in Arma 3 KOTH as I do not have much time to play.
If hard-earned weapon and armor unlocks in Wardogs are taken away in 4-6 months, this game is probably not for people with job and family responsibilities, and I'd rather buy Arma Reforger with similar KOTH mode and other ones, mod support and more realistic gunplay.
I reinstalled BF4 once and it still had all the unlocks I did 10 years ago.
Devs, could you consider separating a permanent character (that does not wipe) and a seasonal one as Tarkov does for instance? You can introduce many money-drains for end-game players to keep inflation low and offer "prestige" self-wipes for experienced players as Tarkov does in the permanent-progression branch.
Heavy weaponry can be balanced with RPGs and AA-launchers as in other games. Prices on it can grow month to month. Purchase taxes can be introduced based on total cash owned for permanent-progression branch, etc., etc.
If you announce wipes at launch you can lose potential customers who can not spend much time in the game but still want to buy it.
If you do not announce the wipes at launch, you will get a lot of bad reviews when you make the first wipe. I would feel myself deceived if I preordered the game before learning about progression wipes. For me personally there is no point to pay for a game that does not care about my efforts to unlock stuff. Other games do.
