APC and how you’re probably doing it wrong.

The past couple days I have made it a point to grab the APC when it appears and get it into play. I drop everything I’m doing to make sure I get it.

Why? Because if I don’t, someone will park it at the first FOB in the CZ and leave it there. Maybe a garage gets built for it, but the end result is that it gets mortared down then the next clueless teammate does the same thing.

The correct play is to get it to the HZ. Find a squad that’s pushing it, and tail them by 30-50m. Stop, let reinforcements in, move, repeat. I give teammates a mobile barricade when there are 3-4 revives needed, drive by with a line of smoke to give them the room to push forward, run over enemies if I see an opening to. If mortars start coming in, I just stay on the move. And I keep it up well after the spawn payments stop. I go until the game is over or the vehicle is destroyed, in which case I wait for the next one and do it all again.

Doing it this way not only gets you more money because the people spawning in are going to quickly give you assist bonuses, but you’re putting your team in a position to get more points. A sustained push with a savvy APC driver keeping reinforcements coming in quickly and your team can pull away from the others.

Enemy team pulling the HZ to a drill? Well you already have a platoon following it that you’re supporting to take the fob when it arrives.

You do need to rely on your team not being dipshits and recognizing that the APC gets them in the action quicker…a lot of players don’t even check it. They run to buy a heli or stand around HQ waiting for a taxi…so some games expecting your team to be smart is a biiiig ask. It’s also not the most fun play style. I enjoy winning and making easy money, so I don’t mind it. YMMV.

I’m sure some people will come in and argue that it’s better to leave it somewhere. I have been met with some hostile replies when I try to explain it in voice chat, I guess they just want the easy couple grand and that’s fine, but give this version of APC play a try next time you grab it from HQ before dying on the hill of “it needs to be at a FOB”.

Edit: didn’t note that this won’t be long term as more people start bringing anti-armor into the field. Right now it’s kinda rare to run into an RPG. Once tanks are more common, this whole post will be irrelevant because there will be 40 people on the field who will spend an rpg on the APC
