The question about using the joystick on a table, rather than attached to a table, is below.

I really enjoy the many posts from helicopter pilots and how they share their experiences using various joysticks. My desk isn't adjustable, and I've been flying mostly in Arma Reforger with a keyboard and mouse. I recently ordered a VKB Gladiator NXT Evo. So, I wonder if it'll strain my hand when I lift it slightly off the desk?
