Comprehensive HZ infantry guide

This article is about to teach you how to really contribute for the win, playing as infantry and earning a reasonable amount of cash along the way. It was made by me, a multi-role combat recon who has no really good aim, playing with 100+ ping, usually end up in top-10 scoreboard earning from 50 to 150k each match.

This guide IS for you if:

• You want to win more games playing actively • You struggle to earn cash trying to play HZ • You feel yourself powerless playing alone • New or somewhat experienced player This guide IS NOT for you if:

• You care only about making money • You don’t want to play infantry/HZ I will make a lot of small topics covering many aspects of the game from overall strategies or economy to specific situations or mechanics of the game. Feel free to correct me or make your suggestions in the comment.

Stick with your team or make them stick with you There’s always players who is ready to play HZ, but they are sometimes just afraid of going in solo or get distracted by unnecessary fights and objectives. If you see a group of mates pushing the HZ just try to stick with them and if you don’t just find an actively playing infantry, they are always there. Sometimes you’ll end up playing with three others, sometimes it would be ten or more. Suggest them to stick together, join their squad or just suggest them to go HZ. Just repeat “let’s go to HZ” and move accordingly. Yes, it looks silly and can be annoying. Yes it works. You will make more money and survive a lot more.

Play HZ as much as it’s reasonable Use every opportunity when the HZ is free or moves on your team’s side of the map. Contest it when it can be contested. If the HZ is on the other side of the map and heavily contested by two other teams your team would often benefit just for staying around alive in CZ. You’ll make money inside the HZ with every match point and it grows within the time you spend inside the circle. You’ll earn smth from 340$ to 760$ IIRC for EVERY POINT TICK.

Fight the one’s who’s winning Always try to fight those who have the most points and avoid conflict with another team. Let’s say blue has 70, you as red has 50 and green has 30. In this scenario you’ll have to try to fight against blues to make their people count as less as possible. Sometimes you’ll win just because the other two teams completely forget about it and just slaughter each out.

Use minimap as much as you can Rebind your map on the comfort button to be able quickly get info about the battlefield. Always pay attention to minimap and learn to scope it out (N keybind by default). You will feel safe and you’ll always know more, knowing where to go, where to look for and when to retreat. It provides so much info that you'll be surprised.

Learn how to make a loadout Usually a good loadout will cost you from 10 to 20k. It consists of minimum t2 armor+helmet, some attachments, meds, nades and other tools. Yes, instantly dying will hurt untill you learn to consistently double that within a life. Optimize your loadout as much as you can. Learn to use what you have and don’t buy something you don’t need like 6 extra medkits or three extra stacks of sniper ammo. Don’t buy fully kitted guns if you know your aim sucks and you want to be a supporting medic. Don’t buy a bipod or a 10x scope if you’re playing combat recon. A t3 helmet + t2 armor can help you survive a mosin headshot, while staying medium weight.

Use quick rebuy button After your first death of the match you can use the quick rebuy option in a shop, the button located in the down left corner. It will suggest your previous items where you can toggle what you need.

Use radial menu When you press down any of the quick slot button it opens up the wheel when you can quickly see and choose what you need. It massively helps to use tools quickly when you have 3+ items and medium or large capacity vest. You’ll get used to it in no time.

Get used to multi-role Prepare to fight, assist, revive and spot people on the go. Use all of your available tools. Spot enemy heli’s while safely moving or holding position, spot enemy troops and drop offs. Revive mates or provide cover for them. You will make half of your loadouts back just from spotting and staying in the hot zone. You can have the defib in the tool slot and also carry a spotting device in a backpack, accessing it with quick slot buttons.

USE SMOKES Always buy at least 2 white smokes or more if you consider yourself a dedicated medic. Don’t try your luck reviving someone in the open, just smoke and go. Use smokes to move through open spaces or get yourself out of tight situations. Use smokes for your teammates even if you don’t want to revive them, others will do. I often just smoke when I see my medic coming towards a knocked teammate. Yes, I don’t make the money for throwing it but it will pay back when all of you are safe and they help you later. Last but not least – use smoke to create CHAOS. When your team is at a heavy disadvantage and things go out of control just smoke around and try your best.

Use nades Learn to throw it in a window. Throw it in the enemy smokes in the open. Throw it to open simple green doors, it takes only one nade.

Take C4 No need to buy it straight from the start but consider doing so after the 20 point marker, ideally go with 6 charges. It takes 1 charge to blew up blue gates, 4 charges to blew up hesco blocks, 6 charges for a FOB and spawn vehicle, one charge for mortar or AA-weapon. Sometimes a one charge of C4 can decide a base take over. Throw it like grenades to smoke enemies out of the building. You can also use it as mines for enemy vehicles.

learn to GIVE UP There’s no ticket system, it’s not a battlefield or squad. You win by staying ALIVE in CZ or HZ. You lose only your own money and time to get yourself back in the field. If you’re made your money back, don't be afraid to give up. Never frame or set up your teammates if you know they will die trying to save you. If you’re lying on the ground for 5 minutes hoping to get revived you are probably losing, when you could be already back in the field with a fresh kit.

Acknowledge revive requests If you plan to revive someone, ping on the request marker so the downed player will get alert that you make your way to help them. Sometimes I ping on requests even if I see someone else is going to revive them, just so the person knows we are working on it. And also disacknowledge the request if the whole situation is changed and there’s no way to help them more.

Use spawn vehicle You can pay attention to the spawn timer in the left corner on the map. You can use the spawn vehicle once in 10 minutes, it counts on the timer and says READY when you can use it again.

Disable enemy spawn vehicle Tell your teammates to shoot the antennas on top of the spawn vehicle if you see one. It can be destroyed rather quickly just by shooting and it will prevent enemies from spawn untill someone repairs it. PSA: It takes 6 charges of C4 to fully destroy a vehicle itself and you get rewarded with 12500$.

TALK Use local and squad chat. Give essential info to your teammates. Call them to follow you once in a while. Remember about using the scaled out minimap? You probably already know more than your mates, give them info about direction enemies may attack from. Call them for retreat and call for a smoke when needed. Give info when you’re knocked out: was you killed by an enemy sniper or there’s more enemies nearby, or you hear footsteps on your body. Sometimes you can use team chat to warn you mates or give info. You can caps lock nickname and type something important.

Announce drop off If you’re in a heli with few other teammates ask about HZ or straight up suggest to contest it. Count to three or just tell them when to jump, stick together from now on. Pilots also can count for you if you ask them for it.

Loot consciously Loot only when you need to, like when you are in a dire need of meds, ammo or new armor. Don’t loot anything if your pack is full. Always know what you need the most. Refill revive masks from enemies by looting them quickly specifically for the mask and nothing more. If you’re completely out of ammo be ready to quickly swap to an enemy kit and stick with it until you can. When reviving teammates quickly loot them for a mask or even defib, but always remember to drop it back after and tell them so.

Heal together When you’re both low on health quickly tell them to heal you while you heal them. You’ll both earn money up to 1600$ just from that.

Forget about enemy snipers There always will be people camping from towers and FOBs, most of them are practically harmless. They can luckily get one kill or two but don’t feed them with attention. Just smoke and go, move, use cover. Give info about that sniper to your teammates and then tell them to forget about it, lead them to cover safely or move on as quickly as possible. HZ is quick enough to make those campers useless most of the time.

Know when to retreat and reposition The zone is moving quickly. Sometimes you’ll start contesting it for good and then find yourself fighting for nothing against the losing team while the other team get points for free. Pay attention to the map and score, tell your teammates just leave and go. Leave them if they heavily refuse to follow and you know you’re wasting your time.

Shoot humvee tires Even the unarmored humvee can be a huge pain to deal with. While you can’t shoot the driver try to quickly shoot the tiers. Best case scenario you made him panic and he became useless or at least forced to go away and repair while you have time to move on. Tell your teammates to do so.

Use your fists You can free your hands by default keybind X. You move faster while your hands are free.

Learn to be a combat sniper If you want to play sniper and want to play HZ you can be far more deadly and useful than those who camper towers. Get yourself a marksman rifle and don’t buy 6x+ optic, just use 4x at max. Move with your team or be constantly around them, provide info, cover and spot enemies. Pay attention to the skies and enemy drop offs. Take care of campers who actively pose a threat to your teammates. Sometimes it’s enough to just shoot them back with one headshot. they probably survive but will stop harassing your mates.

Make yourself a stash on the field When you start feeling confident playing in those terms and spend more and more time without dying you may want to consider making an item stash from the start of a match. Buy a vehicle that allows to carry small crates, pack it up reasonably with what you often need in the long run. It may be a spare heals, ammo, battery charges, C4 or nades, fill it with what you really need. Bring it somewhere in the good spot of the map and now you can come back here any time in a match if you need those supplies. Most of the time enemies will just pass by your crate even if they saw one cause they can’t loot it.
