I'm very excited for the future of the game, but I'm done for now
I got the game 2 days after launch and I've been playing it nonstop ever since. However, earlier today I was in a match. There was an enemy player who was absolutely smashing our team. He was prone firing a PKM and wearing Level 4 armor/helmet. I was able to flank behind him and I dumped 3 12GA slugs into him from point blank range. He turned, hosed me down, and kept going. Before any team scored even 20 points, this player had racked up over 30 kills.
Now clearly, this player was very good and certainly better than me. He's already unlocked some of the best gear in the entire game. However, the issue is that there just isn't a real counter to this except also grinding to unlock the same gear. Testing it out, it would take 4 12 GA slugs, 12 shots from an AK or 5 shots from the SVD to have killed this player. Shooting him in the head would only subtract 1 round from each of those 3 totals.
This was the first game it happened, but this particular instance made me realize that most of the matches I was in lately were feeling frustrating rather than fun.
There's just so many balance issues that the game has really lost all of it's fun and it's happened incredibly quickly.
I am looking forward to what comes next, but for right now I'm putting the game down at least until the next wipe. I wanted to say this because I've mentioned the same thing to a couple of my buddies who play with me and they completely agree. We're not frustrated with the game itself or the devs, but just where the game is at at the moment. We are excited to come back, but at it's current stage the game is just more frustrating than fun and with more people getting access to the highest tier gear it's just going to get worse.
Edit: I get people are saying "Shoot him in the legs". As a Tarkov player I get that would work, but Tarkov and Wardogs are very different. In Tarkov, many if not most of your engagements are at very close range which make it practical to shoot someone in the legs. This isn't the case for Wardogs. More importantly though, that mechanic sucks . It's not fun or interesting, it's annoying and adds nothing to the game.
That aside, the Level 4 armor is just one part of many. There's the humvee issues, the level 35 weapons, and so on. There's just so many balance issues that it feels like you can only play the game if you have the absolute best gear, or if you drive around whipping hand grenades out of the window of the humvee or some other cheese-strat.
