Don't do this, it's not worth it

I'm sure some of you have seen some guides on social media telling you how insane off-zone SAM sites are. They are not.

You pay an insane amount of money for a truck or Little Bird, the ammo crates/pallets, and then you build it between the zone and an enemy HQ.

Yes, you might shoot down some helicopters or scare them, but they will come for you. No matter how far away, they will find you.

Since you're out of zone, you make no money, even if you shoot something down. It's just not worth it. Especially if you're solo. It might be better to do this with the Stinger since it's a MANPAD. But do not build an off-site SAM. The smoke trail will give them your location.
