Playing with friends

It sounds nice with unlimited squad sizes, but how do friends actually join the same server and team?

Lets say we are 7 friends who would like to play together. - Is there a pre-queue waiting room before we press connect, or is it pure hail mary what server players are assigned to if we individually press Play at the same time, maybe with the ability to spam "join friend" via Steam when a player leaves the server, and afterwards spam "join team" when someone leaves the team your friends a playing on? (Last part would be required after each round if the squad doesnt persist i assume)

I didnt get a chance to play the alpha, so me and my palls are wandering if we can play together in this game without all the hastle...
