Ability to place a visual marker on the map

Maybe i'm just blind but there seems to be no ability to place a marker on the map and see this when u close the map right? Like the ping function, but then that it doesn't dissapear every 3 seconds and u have to reping. When flying a helicopter i need to know where to land and opening the map every couple of seconds isn't really doable when flying.

Like in arma 3 when pressing shift and clicking on the map placing a marker. is that functionality in the game or is it missing?
