UK Taxpayers... 🫡 Your tax contributed to this games development
A lot of people don't know this.
The UK’s Video Games Expenditure Credit scheme lets qualifying developers claim a 34% tax credit on eligible UK development spending, capped at 80% of total core development costs. After corporation tax, that’s an effective benefit of up to 20.4% of core development costs. The developers in a podcast already said that they claim this back and would have struggled without the scheme.
The developers have already been transparent that the game cost around $2,500,000 (£1.8M) to make, so this means they claimed back around $510,000 (£367K).
This works out to roughly 1p per UK taxpayer to fund this game 🫡Thank you for your contribution.
(Side note GTA 6's development cost £7.50 per tax payer for comparison)
