Keeping the game alive
We all know how this goes. New shooter comes out, gets a ton of hype, the casuals burn out and all thats left in 6 months is a dwindling playerbase of sweat lords that instakill every noob that dares to try the game out. Its a story as old as time.
So how do you fix it? Look at the games that have withstood the test of time. Battlefield and COD are some of the most hated franchises in the genre. New contenders like battle bit and arc raiders die out within a year. But there are a few that withstand the test of time. Planetside 2 is going on 14 years. Same for Warframe. How did they do it? The added FISHING!
When I told Wrel from Planetside 2 to add fishing, I was laughed at and mocked and he blocked me on Twitter. Where is he now? Making youtube videos about board games. And the chad developers that came in after saved the game with FISHING!
Don't wait til your game is dying. The dads with 3 jobs and 1 hour a week to play is who will keep your game alive and they can't be expected to grind guns and learn how to shoot someone with them. They need activities.
This can easily be worked into the current game economy and is the only thing to keep the game going strong!
