A small tip for recon bois
Hi lads,
Lately I've seen lots of YouTubers posting their sniping videos. They do a great job by not being bush recon; some of them even go behind enemy lines and try to disrupt their supplies, building process, etc.
Also, some of them use the range finder a bit wrong.
Let me explain. When you use a range finder you do two things: spot the enemy and find their exact range.
Now comes the shooting part, where I've seen these YouTubers miss easy shots on targets that stand still for a while.
How to prepare for the shot in order to miss way fewer shots:
Zero your weapon as close as possible to the exact distance of your target. For example, if your target is at 200m range, you zero at 200 and you will hit the target 100% of the time.
But if the target is at 260m and you zero for 200, the bullet will not reach head level; it will fall below that level, probably hitting the chest or legs.
What you have to do when the target is at 260m is zero at 300 and aim at neck level. Why neck level? Because you're using a weapon that already compensates for bullet drop, so using it properly means understanding that you have to control that 40m difference by aiming a bit lower. If you don't adjust properly, you'll have lots of shots aimed at the perfect center of the enemy's head and still miss, because the bullet is flying way too high.
The golden rule is this: anything below 250/350/450, etc. means zeroing at 200/300/400, etc. Anything above 250/350/450, etc. means zeroing at 300/400/500 and aiming a bit lower, at neck/chin level.
And no, the range finder isn't broken; it actually takes some time to read and prepare your shot, switch between weapon and gadget, etc.
There are players who have a range finder built into their eyes, basically able to estimate the distance just by looking through the scope, or even using buildings/towers etc. as a way to estimate distance. The range finder is more of a newbie item. In the same window where you read a target's distance and adjust for 1 kill, some skilled players get two or three kills.
