Material Penetration

I'm no expert, but wouldn't a high-caliber round penetrate a brick wall? It seems to me that in general, many materials in the game are impenetrable, even though they should be.

For example, I was flying a large helicopter with two fixed turrets and noticed that the caliber of this minigun, with its BRRRRRRR, couldn't penetrate any wall. I think in real life, you could use it to completely pierce a country house. Even to the point of completely demolishing it.
