How useful are Suppressors?

i have see a couple people use suppressors and they seem to reduce the over all rapport of the rifle decently, but it does not seem worth it, considering also they dont seem to really reduce/eliminate muzzle flash as much as perhaps they should, at least from a gameplay perspective.

i understand a suppressor should not be silent, but IMO a suppressors main purpose is to reduce muzzle flash, so i can shoot without being easily visually pin pointed.

but this is not criticism as im not confident in the limited footage i have seen with them being used being enough to form a proper opinion, and i was curious of getting players who actually played the beta and their thoughts.
