Too few players for everything to feel smooth?

So I played for one whole day and as people are still figuring things out this critique might not be valid but I get the feeling 33v33v33 is not enough players for logistics and fighting at the same time. The game feels barren and empty at times. Maybe its because people are not coordinating well at the moment.
