Current Tank gameplay doesn't feel like belongs in this game(3rd person camera and inventory mainly). I am playing BF6 arcade while everyone else is playing milsim.
I know lots of people are discussing balance and power of tanks here, but I want to talk about how the gameplay itself fits with the rest of the game.
I feel like current tank gameplay is too arcade-y compared to everything else in the game. Everything feels like has a cost, opportunity wise or cost wise, except for tanks.
Tanks notoriously need infantry/small arms fire support not to get swarmed by enemy infantry, or engage from very far away. Otherwise they get overrun by infantry from their blind spots. Except, in Wardogs tanks don't have blind spots. They have "god view" with free 3rd person camera. Every other style of play needs situational and positional awareness, while tanks can literally see behind them.
Biggest issue was when I drove into middle of small buildings, which should be a death sentence for any tank, but here I was best person to do it, since i hade 360 view of every window and building(except for awkward angles).
Another issue is inventory and logistics. Why can we haul 3 battalions worth of ammo around? Every other aspect of this game the game needs some logistical support, but tanks can be their own logi.
Each antitank rocket takes up so much space in the bag for the infantry, and they are heavy too, which creates huge opportunity(as well as monetary) cost for the anti tank players. While tanks don't feel like have any cost.
And while drones can counter tanks supper easily by shooting at them from Narnia, straight up "countering" without relevant effort also doesn't feel fun. I think drones should have drastically lower range, making there placement and protection important.
For example air vs antiair gameplay feels engaging gameplay on both sides, while both, infantry vs tank and tank vs drones, feels completely one-sided and terribly uninteractive.
I think tanks need to be slightly reworked to bring them in line with the rest of the game. Some of my simple tweaks would be: 1st person camera by default . Let the community servers set 3rd person if they want. This would actually give value to 3rd slot on the vehicle and makes them rely on the team to not get blown up by some sneaky infantry.
No resupply without a station. Let the tanks be cognizant of their shots, and rely on logistics for resupply.
Also, why does tank unlock by just playing, when all the other relevant items unlock by doing specifically those things in the game? Shouldn't tanks unlock by driver progression, and artillery by support progression(since mortars give support xp)?
