Never, in all of my MANY gaming years, did I expect this!
TLDR; Never thought I'd enjoy a FPS game!
I'm gonna start by giving away my age, without giving my actual age, by saying... I'm one of the OG gamers. Been playing video games since the 70's (Pong was the first). Spent many hours at the local 7-Eleven. Never seemed to have enough quarters to ease the gaming high.
Move through the years. Through all the consoles and handhelds, eventually staying on PC games. I've tried all sorts of games. Some I stuck with and others didn't. Of all the genres of games I played and realized I suck at, was FPS games. I tried. I really did. For some reason, I just couldn't shoot my way out of a paper bag. I was ok with that realization. Not everyone is good or enjoys every single type of game.
Then, last Friday (August 21st), I was wondering if there's anything new in the gaming world. I hopped onto Twitch to see what people are playing. I saw this game called, Wardogs. So I clicked the game to see who's streaming it. Saw the normal people I see. Hutch, Shroud, Summit, etc. Then I saw someone called... TheBurntPeanut. I was like, wtf is a burnt peanut? OMG... I was not only laughing at all the things he was saying, but I was actually enjoying the vibe. Next thing I know, I find myself learning the game play, just from watching.
Once I realized there was more to do, other than just pick up a gun and shoot, I opened up Steam to see what the price was. At that moment, I was like... F it. It's not that much money to burn if I find I don't like it. Loaded up the game. Hopped on a server. Insta death as soon as I enter the battle. Next run, I popped a couple of players before getting popped myself. Next run... I snuck around and looted a backpack. Found a spotting scope and took it. Ran in towards my teammates to join the fight. Revived and bunch and did what I could with shooting.
To make this long story short, I found my niche in a FPS game, even though I absolutely suck at runnin' n gunnin'. Spotting enemies and rezing teammates gave me enjoyment I didn't expect from a FPS game. Now, like most of you, I CAN'T WAIT for the game to go live. I know my contribution may not come from wiping out 5 enemies within 30 seconds, but I'll sure as hell be there to help you track, find and eliminate the hostiles. Along with making sure you can get back into action ASAP.
Thank you, Wardogs, for bringing this old ass gamer into a genre that I never thought I would enjoy. See y'all when they flip that live switch!
